The Lazy Review: Twenty One Pilots – Cancer

Twenty One Pilots have just released a cover of My Chemical Romance’s – ‘Cancer’.
The song is an emotional one and it’s guaranteed to make you weep. You have been warned!

The song opens with such a dark yet true to life verse:

“Turn away.
If you could get me a drink of water ’cause my lips are chapped and faded.
Call my aunt Marie.
Help her gather all my things and bury me in all my favorite colors.”

This trackΒ might be a lot to handle for some people but we admire it’s brutal honesty, and it’s haunting lyrics and melody. Not many artists would ever attempt to write a song like this and sing about a subject that affects so many people across the world.

Twenty One Pilots cover of ‘Cancer’ will be featured on Rock Sound’s ‘The Black Parade’ covers album. This tributes album will mark the 10th anniversary of My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade and will include renditions of My Chemical Romance songs from various artists.

THE LAZY REVIEW: RAW, EMOTIONAL, TRUE TO LIFE AND DARING. THIS SONG ISN’T FOR EVERYONE BUT IT’S CERTAINLY FOR US.
