With news that The Spice Girls are coming back (well maybe/maybe not), we decided to take a look back at some of their greatest music videos.
‘Ginger’ has said that if a reunion happens “it will just be the four of us” – that basically means ‘Posh’ is too damn busy to sing ‘Wannabe’ with the girls for their 20th Anniversary.
Remember the following is not a list of their best tracks, this one is all about those visuals!
5. Too Much
Although we can appreciate the different themes running through this video (and Mel C’s vocals), sadly we just had to place this at number 5. The reason being is because the video includes about 40% of footage from ‘Spice World’, it’s kinda cheating right?
Best part of the video: Posh in that catsuit.
You’d be forgiven for thinking this video was shot on the cobbles of Coronation Street but it wasn’t. The video was filmed in Dublin on some street where horses are the main form of transport.
The dance in this video made headlines back in the day because apparently it was all sorts of brilliance. Anyway, here it is, “thank you verrrrry muuuuch”.
Best part of the video: Ginger riding a horse.
3. 2 Become 1
It’s pretty obvious The Spice Girls didn’t shoot this one on location but we’re not really that bothered. The green screen and wind machines were working overtime for the recording of this video and the result is pretty damn cool.
Best part of the video: Baby’s 2 Become 1 hand movement.
Yeah we know this is a controversial one. Many fans will say that this was their greatest music video, we’ll have to agree to disagree on this.
‘Wannabe’ was the song that unleashed girl power on the world. It captured the girls personalities in just under 4 minutes and instantly made us fall in love with Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Posh and Baby.
Best part of the video: Sporty doing a back flip on the table.
1. Spice Up Your Life
And at number one is this video. It’s a lot darker than their previous videos but we absolutely loved it. You have ‘Scary Spice’ pretending to DJ, all five girls flying through the air on hover boards and we can’t forget the various advertising references: Burger King, Starbucks and even Star Wars get a little shout out.
Best part of the video: That spaceship!
Do you agree with our list? What video would you have put at number 1?
Go tell us on twitter: @EDROCHE (he’s the guy that created this whole thing).
